Central Area

The Central Area of MDC encompasses Michigan’s Capital Region and surrounding communities, bringing together congregations committed to shared mission, collaboration, and faithful presence in their local contexts. Churches in this area form a diverse and engaged network, united through worship, leadership development, and meaningful connection with one another.

Rev. Ed Owens serves as the Associate Regional Minister (ARM) for the Central Area, walking alongside pastors and churches through relational support, coordination, and resourcing. He helps strengthen connections among congregations, supports ministry leaders, and plays a key role in organizing and promoting Central Area initiatives and gatherings.

In addition to his work with the Central Area, Rev. Owens supports and coordinates key ministry efforts including M28, COOS, the Michigan Baptist Scholarship, ministry with Retirees, leads an MLG and lends his service on the Region Board.
